DTC-35, Idle Air Control It has been starting fine, and for a while now, when I am in park, or stopped at a light for a while, the check engine light comes on. I have holes in the exhaust and no cat from previous 35 iac 212 owner, so it's noisy and does smell like exhaust at times in the cab, so I didn't 35 iac 721 think much of it. Now (past week or two) it's been revving quite high when it's in park. I start it up to warm 35 iac 742 it up since it's winter, and it will idle high until I get in and shift into Drive or Reverse, then the idle drops. When I shift back into park before shutting it off, it revs up then too. Where should http://repairpal.com/gm-obd-code-35 I start? Chris Stewart02-07-2009, 12:44 PMBlue Bowtie has a good explaination and pictures here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=940598 dmb35902-09-2009, 08:53 AMthanks, I'll try cleaning it first and see how that goes. dmb35902-11-2009, 07:54 AMcleaned it well, and it didn't change a thing, still idle's extremely high at start up. Any good cheap place to get a new idle air control valve? or any other ideas? Chris Stewart02-11-2009, 06:45 PMYou might check the wires going to the IAC for breaks or shorts first dmb35902-12-2009, 05:06 PMChecked the http://www.automotiveforums.com/t941354-discuss93_s10_blazer_error_dtc_35_idle_air_control.html wiring, doesn't look like any damage, breaks, burning, or anything near the unit, and the plastic wire loom is still around it and in good condition I put a new idle air control unit on today, and it didn't really change. Idle was high at start up til I shifted into drive. I took it for a spin, and when I stopped at a light, the CEL would still come on after sitting for like 30 seconds. When I got home I put it in park and left it for a bit. The idle went up like usual, probably around double normal idle (no tac), and it had a sputter to it while idling. I shifted back into reverse, and the idle dropped to normal, then back to park and it did the same thing. not sure where to go from here. Chris Stewart02-12-2009, 06:37 PMYou might check the "starwheel" inside the distributor. The module, with the "stars" tell the computer the engine speed, like a crankshaft position sensor on newer stuff. If one of the "stars" is cracked or broke, the engine has to depend on the MAP sensor and TPS for engine info. dmb35902-15-2009, 11:30 AMI picked up a filter for the EGR valve, and when it warms up a little outside, I'm going to pull that off and clean it and see what happens. The EGR valve has been replaced at some point (before I bought it), because it looks fairly new,

The temp gage stays at about 150, the oil gage stays above 40, Amp gage stays at 14V.The only way i can keep it running is to have my foot pressing the accelerator, when i drove it i had one foot on the gas and the other to press the brake, I'm just out of ideas. Expert: Super Mechanic replied6 years ago. That sounds like the EGR valve may have some small deposits that are holding it opened a little bit. That will act like a vacuum leak and set the IAC code (35). That would be the first thing to check into. Normally if you take the EGR valve off, you can see if it is stuck opened, even just a tiny bit will give you a problem.Let me give you the test charts for both codes in the event that the EGR valve is not stuck opened.Diagnostic Aids A slow, unstable, or fast idle may be caused by a non-IAC system problem that cannot be overcome by the IAC valve. Out of control range, IAC Tech 1 scan tool counts will be above 60 if idle is too low, and zerNo related pages.

A Windows error is an error that happens when an unexpected condition occurs or when a desired operation has failed. When you have an error in Windows, it may be critical and cause your programs to freeze and crash or it may be seemingly harmless yet annoying.
A stop error screen or bug check screen, commonly called a blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen), is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to "crash".
One of the biggest causes of DLL's becoming corrupt/damaged is the practice of constantly installing and uninstalling programs. This often means that DLL's will get overwritten by newer versions when a new program is installed, for example. This causes problems for those applications and programs that still need the old version to operate. Thus, the program begins to malfunction and crash.
Computer hanging or freezing occurs when either a program or the whole system ceases to respond to inputs. In the most commonly encountered scenario, a program freezes and all windows belonging to the frozen program become static. Almost always, the only way to recover from a system freeze is to reboot the machine, usually by power cycling with an on/off or reset button.
Once your computer has been infected with a virus, it's no longer the same. After removing it with your anti-virus software, you're often left with lingering side-effects. Technically, your computer might no longer be infected, but that doesn't mean it's error-free. Even simply removing a virus can actually harm your system.
Reimage repairs and replaces all critical Windows system files needed to run and restart correctly, without harming your user data. Reimage also restores compromised system settings and registry values to their default Microsoft settings. You may always return your system to its pre-repair condition.
